MEF Americas Takes Leadership Role in Advancing Best Practices for Participation TV

P-TV Draft Code of Practice Aims to Set Standards and Ensure the Best Experience for Viewers

LOS ANGELES, July 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) today announced significant advancement in the development of its Participation TV (P-TV) Draft Code of Practice in the U.S. MEF Americas recently hosted an industry workgroup meeting and a networking event in Los Angeles for executives across the mobile entertainment value chain, with the express goal of ensuring that P-TV services continue to be successful.

"Participation TV is a forerunner in the convergence of broadcast and mobile communications. Viewers are no longer passive and invest considerable emotion in the show's broadcast," said Ted Cohen, chairman of MEF Americas. "As technological innovation enables higher levels of user interaction, P-TV continues to gain in popularity. It's essential for there to be a dialogue and clarity between all the parties in the P-TV value chain in order to deliver a seamless and user-friendly experience."

"MEF Americas' Draft Code of Practice is a detailed document which establishes best practices and sets standards to ensure the mobile and broadcast industries achieve long-term success," said Suhail Bhat, director of policy and initiatives for MEF. "MEF embraces the opportunity to work in step with both industries to accomplish this critical step in the growth of P-TV in the U.S."
