Discover Events and Festivals Around Michigan This Fall

OKEMOS, MI--(Marketwire - August 7, 2007) - The fun of summer doesn't have to end just because of fall's impending arrival. There are still plenty of exciting new festivals and events flooding the streets of many towns in Michigan. This season, gather up the family and head out in your RV to a MARVAC member campground and discover the small town festivals and big city events Michigan has to offer.

Get your toes tapping this Labor Day weekend. Celebrate the great musical legacies of Detroit and Chicago during the Detroit International Jazz Festival (www.detroitjazzfest.com). This free event has six stages and takes up 2 million square feet of Detroit. Brought back by popular demand is the Jazz Talk Tent, where visitors can meet famous jazz artists, and hear jazz writers and historians speak about jazz.

This Labor Day also marks the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge Walk. The Mackinaw Bridge Walk is a five-mile walk beginning on the St. Ignace side of the bridge and ending in Mackinaw City. In an average year, the five-mile walk has over 50,000 participants. Visit www.mackinacbridge.org to learn more about the bridge walk.

Step back in time August 18-September 30 at the Renaissance Festival (www.michrenfest.com) in Holly. Enjoy and observe courageous knights defending their honor in full-contact jousting, 195 artisans selling handcrafted goods in a village-style marketplace, and belly dancers and sword swallowers strolling the streets.

Saddle up for Charlotte Frontier Days August 25-September 9 for Old West fun. Featured in the event will be an enormous rodeo, a flea market with 75 vendors, a classic car cruise, tons of activities and games for children of all ages, and much more. Downtown Oscoda will be bustling September 14-16 during the Paul Bunyan Festival.
