-- 88% Overall Equipment Effectiveness
-- 95% On Time Delivery
-- 92% Plant Throughput
Putting these findings in context, Bharat Nair, SVP and Research Director
with Aberdeen's Global Manufacturing Practice, states that, "Best-in-Class
companies are twice as likely as Industry Average and Laggards to adopt
Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI). Those not currently invested
in EMI solutions are gaining some benefits from EMI capabilities through
point integration across multiple applications. While providing
visibility to data is essential in a complex global manufacturing
environment, putting this data into operational and business context and
leveraging this intelligence to drive actions in real-time is what delivers
competitive advantage to manufacturing enterprises. Best-in-Class
companies are doing just that."
Based on the findings of the report, Nair adds the following
recommendations for action:
-- Implement EMI to integrate plant floor data from disparate sources
with business content to provide operational intelligence
-- Drive EMI initiatives under the sponsorship of plant floor management
responsible for operational performance
-- Implement role based dashboards throughout the plant floor
-- Adopt remote access capabilities to provide visibility of critical
data and to send alerts to key decision makers
Nair added, "European manufacturers are further along in EMI adoption and
are using EMI capabilities to link supply chain nodes to drive business
intelligence in real-time and thus gaining advantage in manufacturing
performance over their North American counterparts."
More than 200 manufacturers participated in the study, including: Ashok
Leyland, Baxter Healthcare, British Telecommunications, Cisco Systems, Ford
Motor Company, General Dynamics, Panasonic Industrial, Co, Lockheed Martin,
Motorola, Nokia, Nestle, Philips Lighting, New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc,
Unilever SA and Volvo.
