| Source: King & Spalding
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 15, 2007) - Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers
LLC named King & Spalding as one of the top law firms in the nation for
women. The first-ever 2007 Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law
Firms for Women list celebrates 50 firms for their work/life and
women-friendly policies. The winning firms were selected based on six areas
of importance: workforce profile, benefits and compensation, parental
leave, child care, flexibility, and retention and advancement of women.
Highlighted in the August/September issue of Working Mother magazine, King
& Spalding's workplace benefits include flexible work arrangements, an
on-site daycare facility, generous time off for parental and maternity
leave, and various events for its women attorneys to meet and interact with
other female professionals and to build relationships with their clients,
peers and firm leadership. The firm also promotes internal networking
groups for working mothers and part-time attorneys, as well as a women's
affinity group.
"King & Spalding is proud to be recognized as a great place to work,
especially for women and working mothers," said Lovita Tandy, chair of the
firm's diversity committee. "Through the development of creative and
innovative programs, we assist our lawyers in balancing the demands of
their careers and personal lives. Overall, we are engendering a more
motivated and satisfied workforce, which ultimately benefits our clients."
The 2007 Best Law Firms for Women award was developed in partnership
between Working Mother, the authoritative source for career mothers, and
Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, a national consulting firm advising attorneys and
legal employers on work/life balance and the retention and advancement of
women. The application for the award included detailed questions about
issues that are most important to the retention and promotion of women
lawyers.
King & Spalding strives to create an environment that supports, develops
and advances the professional lives of the firm's women attorneys. At King
& Spalding nearly 19 percent of the partnership and more than 48 percent of
associates are women. In addition, two members of the 10-person policy
committee, the firm's governing body, are women.
