MEAT VOLUME PROCESSED BY HK RUOKATALO SET TO RISE

HKScan Corporation RELEASE 14 September 2007, at 2pm

MEAT VOLUME PROCESSED BY HK RUOKATALO SET TO RISE

HK Ruokatalo Oy will take up pork and beef slaughtering and the cutting of beef
for Järvi-Suomen Portti Osuuskunta cooperative. The parties signed a letter of
intent to this effect on 3 July 2007 and the final agreement was signed today.

Järvi-Suomen Portti will close down its slaughterhouse in Lappeenranta and in
future outsource its services to HK Ruokatalo. Portti's volume can be handled
with the current resources at HK Ruokatalo's pork slaughterhouses in Forssa and
Mellilä. At the Outokumpu beef slaughterhouse, production rearrangements and an
additional fifteen or so employees will be required.

The agreement will reduce slaughtering capacity in Finland while making better
use of remaining capacity. For HK Ruokatalo, Portti's outsourcing translates
into higher volumes in slaughtering and cutting as well as a higher capacity
utilisation rate. The amount of pork and beef processed by the company will
rise from the current roughly 95 million kg to an estimated 110-plus million
kg.

The arrangement will have no impact on the parties' competitive relationship in
product development, manufacture and marketing.
