ZINK Imaging to Speak on Applications of Thermal Printing for Security at the Society for Imaging Science & Technology's NIP23 Conference

ANCHORAGE, AK--(Marketwire - September 17, 2007) -

WHO: Dr. Fariza B. Hasan, Senior Principal Scientist, ZINK
              Imaging

WHEN: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 3:30 PM Alaska Time

WHERE: 23rd International Conference on Digital Printing
              Technologies (NIP23)
              Anchorage, Alaska

TOPIC: Application of Thermal Printing Technology for Security
              Printing

DESCRIPTION: In this session, Security and Forensic Printing, Dr. Hasan
will discuss security applications of direct thermal and
thermal transfer printing methods, focusing on three main
              areas:

-- Thermal printing can be used to create documents with
embedded permanent images and texts as security codes,
which are visible only under ultraviolet light.
-- Copying or scanning of the documents cannot reproduce
                  these images.
-- Single sheet direct thermal process, in which the
printed images gradually fade with time, can be used
for creating documents for temporary identification. The
length of time required for such fading can be controlled
by proper selection of the components of the imaging
                  systems.
-- This is a focal paper of the session.

ABOUT THE NIP23 CONFERENCE

For more than two decades, NIP has been the preeminent forum for discussions of advances and new directions in non-impact and digital printing technologies. This comprehensive, industry-wide conference is sponsored by The Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) and includes all aspects of the hardware, materials, software, images, and applications associated with digital printing systems, including drop-on-demand ink jet, wide format ink jet, desktop and continuous ink jet, toner-based laser printers, production digital printing systems, and thermal printing systems, as well as the engineering capability, optimization, and science involved in these fields. Novel imaging and applications such as nanoparticles, paper-like displays and digital art also have a place with us. As in 2006, NIP will be held in conjunction with Digital Fabrication 2007, a conference that explores the potential of digital printing technologies with new applications and materials that go well beyond traditional printing and have been used to produce MEMS and electronic devices.
