Kwansei Gakuin University Selects Infoblox for DNS/DHCP Services

TOKYO and SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - September 17, 2007) - Infoblox Inc. today announced that Kwansei Gakuin University has selected and deployed Infoblox core network services appliances to deliver internal and external domain name resolution (DNS) and IP address assignment (DHCP) services.

Advantages of using Infoblox include central management, reliability and easy maintenance for these critical core network services. Previously, Kwansei Gakuin University relied on Unix-based systems for DNS and Windows servers for DHCP at its Nishinomiya Uegahara, Kobe Sanda and Osaka Umeda campuses. They had to maintain all of the servers individually, when software updates and patches were released. These efforts were very complex and time consuming for their administrators. Additionally, reliability limitations often resulted in downtime.

To address these issues, Kwansei Gakuin University selected and deployed 10 Infoblox appliances that have built-in High Availability (HA) features for DNS and DHCP service resiliency. Kwansei linked the Infoblox appliances into a grid across its campuses so they can be managed and upgraded centrally. One-button upgrades across the grid help ease the administrative burden on the IT staff.

Further, to improve reliability and increase security of DNS systems, Kwansei followed Infoblox's suggested DNS best practices, using several appliances as forwarders, hidden primary and secondary systems. This deployment provides protection of DNS data and eliminates Denial of service (DDoS) vulnerabilities.

Mr. Nagai of Kwansei Gakuin University commented: "When we deployed the Infoblox appliances, Infoblox and its partner provided excellent DNS/DHCP support services. In addition, the Infoblox grid technology has delivered essential central management capabilities to help ease the administrative burden on our team."

At the Nishinomiya Uegahara Campus, there are two Infoblox-1550 appliances in an HA pair as the Grid Master; two Infoblox-550 appliances as external DNS servers; two Infoblox-550 appliances in an HA pair as forwarders and two Infoblox-1050 appliances for internal DNS/DHCP. At the Kobe Sanda Campus, there are two Infoblox-1050 appliances for internal DNS/DHCP. All ten units are linked together in an Infoblox grid, whereby they can be centrally managed as a single entity.
