ATMI Appoints Dr. Lawrence H. Dubois as Chief Technology Officer


DANBURY, Conn., Sept. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATMI) today announced that Dr. Lawrence H. Dubois has joined the Company as Senior Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer, responsible both for executing ATMI's current technology strategy and for developing its future technological direction.

Dubois most recently was Corporate Vice-President and Head of the Physical Sciences Division at SRI International, Menlo Park, California, where he led a multidisciplinary team of over 180 scientists and engineers focused on the development and commercialization of numerous important technologies, including advanced materials and coatings, environmentally-benign processing, breakthrough energy sources, and micro- and nano-fabrication.

"In his role as CTO, Larry will focus primarily on new market opportunities and disruptive technologies. In addition, he will provide oversight to our current technology development efforts and work with our research teams to ensure our processes are world-leading," said Doug Neugold, President and Chief Executive Officer.

At SRI, Dubois had profit and loss responsibility for a $45+ million business unit; government and commercial business, capital, partnership/alliance development; technology transfer; and setting long-range business and technical strategies and goals.

Prior to joining SRI, Dubois had a distinguished career at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in Arlington, Virginia, culminating as Director of the Defense Sciences Office. Previously he was a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff and Technical Manager at AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Dubois is a member of the Board of Directors for Sylvan Source, the Associate Chairman and Chairman-Elect of the Defense Sciences Research Council, and a member of the Technical Advisory Board for Four Seasons Ventures. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from MIT.
