Denton Public Library Now Offers Digital Media to Download

Patrons Now Have 24/7 Access to Download Audio Books, Music, and Video Titles

DENTON, TX--(Marketwire - October 1, 2007) - Patrons of Denton Public Library can now access a collection of digital audio books, music, and video titles by visiting http://denton.lib.overdrive.com. Card holders can check out and download some of the same best-selling titles found in the physical library. Once downloaded onto a personal PC, these titles can be transferred to compatible devices and many audio titles can be burned to CD.

To checkout and download titles, patrons will need a library card and Internet connection. Card holders can check out up to five titles at one time. After a 21 day lending period, the downloaded titles automatically expire and are checked back into the collection, so there are never any late fees. If a title is not available, users can place a hold and will be notified via email when the title is available for download.

"We are very excited to offer this new technology to our customers," said Library Director Eva Poole. "This digital collection is going to take us into the forefront of library services and it also gives our patrons something they want and deserve."

To learn more about the service, users can read the Quick Start Guide or watch the Download Digital Media Guided Tour, available on the digital library site. The free and easy to use technology is provided by OverDrive, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio.

To download titles from the digital collection, patrons must install the free software, OverDrive Media Console, which plays back audio books, music, and video titles. The software is compatible with Windows 98 SE or higher, as well as Microsoft Vista. At this time the service is not compatible with Macs or iPods.
