Parex banka becomes the second largest bank in Latvia


As at August 31, 2007, the assets of Parex banka have reached LVL 2.9 bln, which
is a 24,4% or LVL 580.574 mln growth for the eight months of 2007. Thus, Parex  
banka has become the second largest bank in Latvia by assets, outperforming SEB 
Latvijas Unibanka. The asset share of the three largest banks in Latvia,        
Hansabanka, Parex banka and SEB Latvijas Unibanka, comprises 53,3% of the       
country's total banking assets, as at August 31.                                
As at the end of August, Parex banka has attracted LVL 566.573 mln in retail    
deposits, thus achieving a 34,1% or LVL 143.94 million growth, comparing to the 
end of 2006. The Bank has a 16,4% market share in deposits in Latvia.
