Commonwealth of Kentucky Chooses Information Builders WebFOCUS for State-Wide Financial Analysis and Reporting
Self-Service Business Intelligence Solution Customized and Deployed in Six Months

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 10, 2007) - Information Builders, the leader in production
business intelligence (BI)
solutions, today announced that the Commonwealth of Kentucky selected
WebFOCUS as the underlying technology for the next generation of its
Financial Analysis System(2) (FAS(2)). FAS(2) will replace an aging
financial system based on FoxPro and older database systems. With WebFOCUS,
users from all agencies are able to track their projects over the Web in an
easy-to-use self-service application that speeds operational decisions and
improves budget management.
"It is critical for each agency in a state -- and all decision-makers
within the state -- to know the status of budget expenditures and to
quickly and easily analyze and report on that data in a timely fashion,"
said Gerald Cohen, CEO and founder of Information Builders. "WebFOCUS is
particularly well suited for government organizations because it fosters
collaboration and removes barriers by integrating and delivering the right
information to a broad base of users who need that data, wherever they
are."
WebFOCUS equips government and private sector leaders with scalable BI
solutions to effectively address the daily business pressures of getting
the right data to the right employees so they can make educated operational
decisions. With it, users gain critical organizational insight from their
data through easy-to-use drill-down functionality. The leading BI solution
also gives department heads confidence in their data, helping them face
increasingly rigorous budget constraints and reporting mandates.
"Knowing where your agency stands relative to budget and expenditures is
critical for the good management of all state agencies," said Rachelle
Wilkins of the Office of the State Budget Director. "Our former financial
reporting system was difficult for our IT team to support and maintain and
for users to access and apply in their daily jobs. WebFOCUS' performance
capabilities, ease of use, and speed of delivery were the key selection
criteria in our decision to enlist the help of an outside BI offering. We
were able to customize and deploy the first phase of the state-wide system
within six months, arming 300 users thus far with self-service ad hoc
reporting to serve the Commonwealth more efficiently."
