CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - October 15, 2007) - King & Spalding, a leading international law
firm, announced today that Richard M. Bange III, a corporate lawyer with
significant experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions and
leveraged finance, has joined the firm as a partner in its private equity
practice. Bange brings an extensive corporate transactional background to
the firm's Charlotte office, with a particular focus on private equity and
mergers and acquisitions transactions as well as the financing associated
with leveraged acquisitions.
"We are pleased to welcome Rick to King & Spalding and look forward to the
contributions he will make to the ongoing expansion of the firm's private
equity practice," said Jeff Brown, managing partner of King & Spalding's
Charlotte office. "Rick is highly regarded as an entrepreneurial lawyer
with excellent legal skills. His experience, particularly in representing
private equity sponsors in both the M&A and leveraged finance aspects of
their transactions, complements the firm's 150-lawyer national and
international private equity practice area and will help the firm continue
to provide superior service to our clients."
Bange joins King & Spalding from the Charlotte office of Alston & Bird.
Prior to that, he practiced in New York City for eight years, primarily in
the private equity practice of O'Melveny & Myers. He represents private
equity sponsors and venture capital funds in a variety of investment and
exit transactions including leveraged buyouts, early-stage and growth
equity investments, mergers, stock and asset acquisitions and sales,
mezzanine investments and recapitalizations.
Bange received a J.D. and a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of
Virginia.
"I am delighted to be joining King & Spalding's private equity practice.
The firm's reputation, its resources at the national and international
levels, its remarkably talented attorneys and its focus on growth offer an
extraordinary platform for someone with my experience," Bange said.
King & Spalding's private equity practice consists of more than 150 lawyers
across the firm's nine offices in the United States, Europe and the Middle
East. The practice is dedicated to understanding and achieving its clients'
