Prices Head Back Up After Two Weeks of Downturns
IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - October 19, 2007) - Most areas of Texas saw gas prices rise over the past week after dropping during the previous two weeks, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The Texas average increased two cents to $2.68 a gallon.
"Oil industry analysts say that prices around the country have been increasing for the past week because concerns about oil supply disruptions in the Middle East have pushed up both wholesale and crude oil prices," said AAA Texas spokesperson Paul Flaningan.
The Galveston/Texas City area has the state's cheapest gas at $2.579 and is also one of the few areas where prices dropped -- the average went down by one penny in the last week. Amarillo has the state's highest average price at $2.80 a gallon -- up almost six cents from last week.
AAA Texas Fuel Savings Tip of the Week: Don't "Do" the Drive-Thru. Walk in to pick up your fast-food meal, especially if there's a line of cars in the drive-thru line.
