CARLSBERG'S RESPONSE TO S&N ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING BBH SHAREHOLDER AGREEMENT

Carlsberg A/S confirms that it has today received a letter from Scottish &
Newcastle plc and Oy Hartwall Ab alleging breaches of the Shareholders
Agreement between Oy Hartwall Ab and Pripps Ringnes Ab, which governs the
parties' joint venture Baltic Beverages Holding Ab. 

Carlsberg believes the claims made have no merit.
