QLogic Announces HPCtrack Program to Enhance Ecosystem Collaboration on Interoperability and Performance

21 HPC Partners and Customers Join the Program For Faster Access to New Technology, Certified Interoperability and Collaboration on Performance Optimization

RENO, Nev., Nov. 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SC07 -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leader in networking for storage and high performance computing (HPC), today announced the HPCtrack(tm) Program for ecosystem partners and customers with HPC clusters. Because the performance of an HPC cluster can often be defined by the performance of the cluster interconnect, partners and customers are asking QLogic to weave new InfiniBand technology more tightly into the ecosystem - and to do it faster. In response, the HPCtrack program is designed to provide faster access to new InfiniBand technology, to certify the interoperability of ecosystem products and to provide a basis for closer collaboration on performance optimization of multi-vendor solutions. The following 21 ecosystem partners and customers have already joined the program: 3 Leaf Systems, Altair, AutoDesk, CD-adapco, Clustercorp, Corning Cabling Systems, Data Direct Networks, FalconStor, Isilon Systems, Livermore Software Technology Corporation, LSI, Panasas, Quantum, RAID Incorporated, RNA Networks, SCALI, SI-Cortex, SIMULIA, Terascala, Texas Memory Systems and Zarlink. QLogic will be registering new partners and customers on the floor of SC07 in booth #261.

"Tight collaboration between ecosystem partners is becoming more difficult as the number, size and complexity of HPC clusters continue to grow," said Earl Joseph, program vice president, High Performance Systems, IDC. "Programs like HPCtrack can provide the framework and process needed for more partners to serve more customers."

According to Jeff Benck, president and chief operating officer, QLogic Corp., "In just the last year, QLogic has seen the emergence of several new HPC hardware vendors, software vendors and vertical applications. HPCtrack is the framework that will allow us to scale support for the ecosystem as it expands from its roots in technical computing into a much broader market."

The QLogic HPCtrack Program - For HPC Partners and Customers

In the server and storage ecosystems, only vendors typically participate in ecosystem programs. In the HPC market, many customers are independent software vendors. As a result, HPC ecosystem partners and customers are eligible to join the HPCtrack program and receive the following benefits:

Certified Interoperability - The foundation of the HPCtrack program. To be eligible for any program benefits, HPCtrack partners are asked to test new technology, and certify interoperability with their hardware, software or application. Certifications will be listed in the HPC Interoperability Guide that can be downloaded from qlogic.com and from partner web sites. Over 100,000 SAN and HPC Interop Guides have already been distributed by QLogic.

Early Access to New HPC Technology - Competitive advantage in the fast moving HPC market can mean having access to the newest, fastest, technology. HPCtrack partners are eligible for early access to new QLogic adapters, switches and software on loan, or to purchase them at a discounted HPCtrack partner price.

Performance Optimization - Tuning hardware, software and applications on a large cluster is a luxury for partners and customers that don't have access to test clusters. The HPCtrack Cluster Exchange is a database of Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Benchmarking Clusters that are available to HPCtrack partners, and the processes of how to get access to the clusters.

More - HPCtrack partners are eligible for more benefits including priority support during interoperability certification testing, cross support agreements, on-site consulting, joint marketing, and free technical training.
