IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading manufacturer of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, announced today that Wavesat has chosen the LX5530(tm) advanced 5.8GHz wireless LAN power amplifier for its latest WiMAX Mini-PCI designs.
The Microsemi LX5530 power amplifier, which utilizes an advanced InGaP HBT technology to support Wavesat's 802.16d WiMAX chipset, is designated in Wavesat reference designs for access point, card bus, and Mini PCI WiMAX applications.
The LX5530 is the latest in a series of Microsemi WLAN power amplifiers supporting the 5.8GHz WiFi and WiMAX chipsets. It is designed to provide state-of-the-art performance in a compact size to support multimedia applications enabled by Wavesat 802.16d solutions.
"We are extremely pleased to be included in the latest Wavesat WiMAX 5.8GHz Mini-PCI designs and to support their OEM customers in volume production," said Jim Peterson, Microsemi President and CEO. "Together, we continue to bring technology leadership to the dynamic WiMAX market," he said.
The LX5530 is a three-stage MMIC device, 3mm square, with active bias and on chip input matching. Its advanced InGaP HBT process provides highest efficiency as well as enhanced operating performance from a single low voltage supply of 3.3V to 5V. With greater than 28dB power gain across the entire 4.9 to 6.0GHz band, the LX5530 offers 21dBm output power at 5V supply voltage and 250mA quiescent current.
All Microsemi wireless LAN power amplifiers are manufactured consistent with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) guidelines.
