Alltel Launches WaveMarket's GPS-based Family Location Service

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. and EMERYVILLE, Calif., Nov. 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Alltel Wireless, America's largest network, providing coverage across the nation, and WaveMarket, the industry leader in mobile location services, launched Axcess Family Finder today. Parents can now locate children, manage permissions, and receive alerts via the Web or on their mobile phones.

The WaveMarket technology provides Alltel customers with an interactive map to monitor children, providing an extra sense of safety and ease of mind. Through GPS capabilities, Axcess Family Finder is able to locate a child's phone and give parents instant access to his or her location. Further, parents can create Scheduled Checks around specific locations to receive an automatic notification via text message when the child has arrived at a specific location. For instance, parents will receive a text message to ensure their child has arrived at school on time or is home by curfew. Parents can register for Axcess Family Finder with Scheduled Checks at www.alltel.com/familyfinder.

"We are pleased to add WaveMarket's Family Location service to our portfolio of great GPS applications," said Scott Moody, director of multi-media content for Alltel Wireless. "Through our relationship with WaveMarket, we are able to deliver an application promoting child safety to our customers."

"Alltel Wireless is an innovative carrier that has always offered many leading-edge services to its customers," said Tasso Roumeliotis, CEO of WaveMarket. "We're very excited to launch our fifth-generation GPS-based family location service with Alltel as part of their Axcess GPS services launch."

For added security, a username and password is required to access location information. The service is available on the LG AX8600, Samsung U520, and Samsung R510 "Wafer."

"Since parents love the product, we are seeing increasing subscriber rates and increasing usage on a per-subscriber basis for our Family Location products," said Roumeliotis. "We continue to invest aggressively in this product suite, adding new features, soliciting customer feedback, and forming strategic partnerships with safety organizations. Family Locator service continues to be one of the top GPS applications for mobile carriers."
