Falcon(R) Electric Introduces New 8 and 10kVA Scalable UPS for Growing Networks and Data Centers
New FN Series(TM) UPS Plus(R) Models Expand Family and Scale up to 40kVA
| Source: Falcon Electric, Inc.
IRWINDALE, CA--(Marketwire - November 14, 2007) - Due to the popularity of its recently
introduced FN Series UPS Plus, Falcon Electric, Inc., (www.falconups.com)
an award-winning supplier of power protection and conversion solutions,
today announced the next products in its series of scalable protection for
growing networks and data centers. The new FN Series double-conversion
on-line Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSes) expand the family's
range up to 40kVA. As power continuity becomes more critical to businesses
every day, Falcon's engineering teams are continually developing power
solutions that are expandable and flexible yet have an affordable entry
cost. Now, users have the choice of scaling from 3kVA to 24kVA or with this
new model release, scale from 8kVA to 40kVA in the same compact footprint
as the FN Series 6kVA unit.
The parallel or N+1 redundant UPSes are designed to meet the demands of IT
infrastructures with a scalable platform and N+1 redundancy. The new FN
Series models achieve many technical milestones including a faster
processor utilizing digital signal processing (DSP) technology, thereby
improving performance, capability and reliability. An FN system can be
configured using individual 8 and 10kVA models, providing up to 40kVA
capacity or to 30kVA with N+1 redundancy. This approach eliminates the
added expense of buying additional cabinets to house control, power and
battery modules -- providing users with a lower Total Cost of Ownership.
In addition, the new FN models can be easily programmed by the user for use
as a 50Hz or 60Hz frequency converter -- making the FN
Series an ideal choice for worldwide power applications.
"Our first FN Series UPS Plus is receiving great reviews by our customers
due to its flexibility and standard features that are options in competing
systems. The affordable scalability of these units has filled a void in the
market," stated Michael Stout, Falcon's vice president of engineering.
"These new FN models give customers with larger power needs the same great
flexibility and redundancy as our 3kVA to 24kVA models without sacrificing
the ability to easily scale up as power demands increase."
Loaded with many advanced features, the new FN models also include a wide
input voltage window -- a must for fluctuating power environments, as well
as a Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) interface and an LCD display with
advanced monitoring for quick and easy UPS management. Furthermore, the FN
Series offers hot-swappable, user-replaceable batteries, optional battery
packs and chargers for the highest level of power availability.
The system's true regenerative (double-conversion) on-line technology
provides the highest level of protection against a wide spectrum of power
problems including blackouts, brownouts, surges and transients. In
addition, input Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry greatly reduces
harmonics that can adversely affect sensitive computers and electronic
equipment. These features are significant as power outages and power
glitches can cost organizations thousands -- if not millions -- of dollars
in lost processes, transactions and productivity.
Advanced communications with unlimited client software licensing
For easy monitoring of the UPS systems, Falcon's UPSilon® computer
shutdown and management software supports all Windows® platforms
including Vista, as well as Novell NetWare® 5 & 6, LINUX and FreeBSD.
UPSilon for UNIX is available for purchase and supports most popular UNIX
platform and OS versions. For remote management, users may purchase an
optional SNMP/HTTP agent board that installs directly inside the UPS and
provides a TCP-IP addressable, 10/100 Ethernet port. Unlimited server
shutdown client software licensing is provided at no additional cost.
Available now, the new FN Series UPS Plus models are designed to UL and cUL
standards and meet FCC Class A requirements. List pricing starts at $5,998
for the 8kVA model and all models include a two-year warranty. For more
