LogMeIn Adds Advanced Remote Backup Capabilities for IT Service Providers

WOBURN, Mass., Nov. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- LogMeIn, Inc. today announced new features for its remote backup solution for IT professionals supporting small and medium sized organizations. LogMeIn Backup includes the ability to import or export storage sets, pause and resume backup sessions, and only back up differentials on large datasets -- significantly reducing backup time and storage space.

LogMeIn Backup quickly, easily and instantly establishes a virtual network for data backup, storage and retrieval across remote personal computers (PCs) and/or remote storage servers. Customers simply choose the data to protect, where to store it, and the backup schedule.

"The ability to back up locally on an in-house machine as well as on an off-site storage server provides great peace-of-mind to end-users and a great business opportunity to outsourced IT shops," said Michael Simon, CEO, LogMeIn, Inc. "Add to this the fact that there are no limits on the amount of data someone can store, plus full encryption and complete control over the data backup, and our solution is a proven, robust offering for managed service providers and IT outsourcers."

Made for the IT Professional

Now IT administrators can easily import and export backup storage sets generated between machines, allowing them to optimize the allocation of their backup resources. This is particularly helpful when setting up LogMeIn Backup for the first time, as users can back up all data locally and move it to a storage machine, as opposed to sending it over the network.

In addition, the amount of bandwidth used during a backup session can be limited, which helps ensure that there is no performance lag.

Users can also pause and resume backup sessions, enabling better control when automatic backups take place. Simply pause a backup session in the event that connectivity is faulty.

Also with the latest LogMeIn Backup, only the changed portions of large files are backed up on incremental backups. Called Delta or block-level backup, this reduces the time, space, and bandwidth necessary to back up critical data like Exchange email and large databases.

About LogMeIn Backup

LogMeIn Backup is a computer-to-computer backup storage program that allows IT administrators to quickly and easily protect their customers' data, such as financial records; critical files; email; contacts and calendar items.

Simply install LogMeIn Backup on two or more computers, and designate groups of files and folders ("Backup Sets") to be routinely and automatically sent to machines on which Backup Sets are stored ("Storage PCs"). Backup Sets are stored in a proprietary format on the Storage PC and are easily restored later if disaster strikes, such as a hard drive failure or virus infection.

All Backup Sets are sent via 256-bit SSL, and optionally stored in a password-protected, encrypted state on the Storage PC, ensuring that only the user who stores the data can access it.
