SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 28, 2007) - SendMe Mobile, the premier mobile media
company, today announced the addition of Nasos Topakas as chief technology
officer. Formerly an executive with StubHub, Ofoto and Charles Schwab,
Topakas' deep consumer technology expertise and proven success in the
mobile arena will be a driving force in helping SendMe scale its
state-of-the-art mobile media platform and meet the needs of its rapidly
expanding audience. His experience in growing and managing world-class
engineering teams, and leading the design and implementation of complex and
scalable web and mobile publishing systems will allow SendMe to quickly
address the increasing consumer demand for its innovative mobile media
products.
"Nasos' expertise in delivering online and mobile applications that scale
to millions of users across the world is invaluable," said Russell Klein,
co-founder and CEO of SendMe. "SendMe Mobile is experiencing an
unprecedented growth curve which makes it critical to bring on board
someone with an excellent track record for leading technology organizations
along this kind of trajectory. Nasos' skill set and passion around mobile
innovation makes him a perfect fit for our team."
Topakas, an accomplished engineer and architect, has over 20 years of
experience creating best-in-class consumer e-commerce and communication
systems, and client-server and distributed architectures. He joined SendMe
from San Francisco-based StubHub, an online sports, music and theater
ticket marketplace that was acquired by eBay in February 2007, where he
served the CTO and senior vice president of engineering. Prior to joining
StubHub, Topakas was vice president of engineering at Eastman Kodak,
running KodakGallery.com (previously known as Ofoto.com). Before his tenure
at Kodak, he held many vice president and managing director positions at
Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., including head of the initiative to create the
company's first-ever mobile service/platform.
"With mobile devices now in the hands of everyone -- from kids to seniors
-- the mobile application market is exploding," said Topakas. "SendMe's
refreshingly different multi-brand strategy puts them at the forefront of
this movement and creates exciting opportunities for innovation. I'm
excited to help SendMe build upon its unique mobile marketing platform and
to deliver the most exciting and entertaining mobile experiences consumers
have ever seen."
