Download Audio Books Arrive at Nassau County Libraries

Shorten the Commute With Best-Selling or Classic Titles

LONG BEACH, NY--(Marketwire - December 18, 2007) - Listen up Long Island! Patrons of 14 Nassau County libraries now have anytime, anywhere access to a dynamic collection of digital audio books through the new library service, Nassau Digital Doorway, http://nassau.lib.overdrive.com/.

With a valid library card, patrons of participating libraries can log on to the digital library website, install free software, check out and download audio books to their PC, and then transfer to a supported MP3 player or burn some titles to CD.

Among the growing collection are thrillers, romance, science fiction, and mystery. Non-fiction titles include self-improvement, foreign language study, business and careers, and more. The digital library also features best-selling authors such as Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, Sue Grafton, James Patterson, John Grisham, and David Baldacci.

"This service is great for the commuter population and for those who exercise," said George Trepp, Director of Long Beach Public Library. "With so many best-selling titles available, driving in rush hour will be more bearable."

Patrons can check out up to five titles at a time and at the end of the seven-day loan period, the audio books will automatically expire and return to the Nassau Digital Doorway collection. The digital titles have no late fees or damage costs. The service is free, easy-to-use, and available 24/7 from anywhere in the world.
