Boomi Releases Fully On-Demand Integration Service, Fundamentally Changing Integration Industry
Company's Announcement Heralds the End of Integration Software
| Source: Boomi
BERWYN, PA--(Marketwire - January 15, 2008) - Boomi™, the market and technology leader for
on-demand integration, today officially launched the industry's only fully
on-demand integration service with the general availability of Boomi On
Demand(SM). After a highly successful beta customer program that included
over 100 organizations ranging from small businesses to some of the largest
companies in the world, Boomi On Demand is now available to the general
market.
Boomi has made it possible for companies to link any combination of
software-as-a-service (SaaS) and on-premise applications without the burden
of installing software packages or hardware appliances. Boomi On Demand
accelerates the adoption of SaaS applications by making it affordable and
easy to use.
As the acceptance and popularity of SaaS applications has continued to rise
dramatically, traditional enterprise integration software has become the
Achilles heel of the SaaS industry. Traditional integration software
products are inconsistent with the values of SaaS in terms of cost,
complexity and time to implement. Boomi On Demand offers the first complete
integration solution delivered in an on-demand model, breaking the barrier
to SaaS adoption for companies of all sizes and marking the end of the
software approach to integration.
"Prior to incorporating Boomi into our price optimization solution, our
people had a much more painful task of securing customer data for our
solution," explained Todd P. Michaud, president and CEO of Revionics. "We
evaluated several integration solutions and found that Boomi offers
superior technology combined with an affordable cost structure. After a
successful pilot with Boomi, we're excited to roll this solution out in a
production environment, and we anticipate a substantial ROI."
Partners Speak Out About Boomi On Demand
In addition to the positive feedback from the beta customer community,
numerous partners have begun working with Boomi On Demand to meet their
customers' integration needs. Companies such as salesforce.com, NetSuite,
Revionics, Intacct, SmartTurn and OpSource are working with Boomi On Demand
to provide integration between SaaS applications and on-premise
applications.
Andrew Leigh, the director of integration product marketing at
salesforce.com, said, "Just as software-as-a-service and
platform-as-a-service transformed enterprise applications and development
platforms, the Boomi On Demand integration solution is changing the game
for integration customers. As companies extend their IT enterprises with
Force.com and Salesforce CRM applications to help run their businesses, we
are excited that Boomi has brought the on-demand model to integration,
promising new levels of success and ease of use."
Mini Peiris, the vice president of product management for NetSuite,
commented, "NetSuite's on-demand business application supports the core
functions required to manage a company's business -- from enterprise
resource planning (ERP) to customer relationship management (CRM) to Web
capabilities. Boomi On Demand provides our customer base with the ability
to tie NetSuite to peripheral applications with an affordable, easy-to-use
integration solution that allows data transfer into NetSuite, letting the
customer gain critical insight into their business to make better, faster
decisions."
According to Treb Ryan, CEO of OpSource, "Boomi On Demand makes integration
of Web and traditional on-premise applications quick, easy and economical
for developers and consumers of software-as-a-service. As a leader in the
Web delivery of on-demand applications, we believe easy, flexible
application integration outside of and behind the firewall is key to
broader enterprise acceptance of the SaaS model. By breaking down
application integration barriers, Boomi On Demand will accelerate the
growth of the SaaS market."
Jim Burleigh, SmartTurn's CEO, stated, "Boomi's vast experience in SaaS
integration enables SmartTurn to extend the value of our On-Demand
Inventory and Warehouse Management System (WMS), eliminating the high costs
of integration that are typical with traditional WMS applications. For our
customers who need a powerful, cost-effective, low-risk way to connect with
a broad array of applications, such as QuickBooks, Great Plains and
NetSuite, Boomi is by far the best SaaS integration platform out there --
and they understand that SaaS is the wave of the future."
What the Analysts are Saying
The analyst community has also taken note of Boomi's work in the SaaS
integration world.
"With a significant customer base to build on and all the right
partnerships in place, it's no surprise that the Boomi On Demand beta has
been a success so far," said Dennis Callaghan, Analyst with The 451 Group,
a technology industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise
IT innovation, in his report. He continued in the report, "Boomi On Demand
has the potential to redefine SOA from the customer's perspective." This
comment appeared in an independent report, titled "Boomi shifts to
on-demand model for SaaS/on-premise integration," published on November 7,
2007 (see editor's note below).
David Linthicum, an analyst at ZapThink, stated, "Boomi solves SaaS
integration by deploying an integration solution on the same platform, the
Internet. This solution provides enterprises looking to find SaaS
integration solutions with a better and more cost-effective alternative to
traditional enterprise integration solutions. The use of integration
technology over the Internet just makes sense as many IT resources move
from inside to outside of the firewall."
How Boomi On Demand Works
Boomi is the only integration offering that delivers a true SaaS
application for business integration, based on its Visual Integration
Technology(SM). Users can securely build, deploy and manage integrations
using only a Web browser. Integrations are built visually with familiar
point-and-click, drag-and-drop ease. No coding is required.
Once integration processes are built, they are deployed via a lightweight,
dynamic runtime engine called an "Atom(SM)." Built with patent-pending
technology, Boomi Atoms contain all the components required to execute an
integration process from end-to-end including connectors, transformation
rules, decision handling and processing logic. They can be hosted for
SaaS-to-SaaS integration or downloaded behind a company's firewall for
SaaS-to-on-premise integration. Accounts are self provisioning, so
organizations can sign up for an account and begin building integrations
immediately on the Web in a pay-per-connection subscription model.
"This is an idea whose time has come," commented Bob Moul, president and
CEO of Boomi. "As businesses make the transition to on demand, it's only
logical that they also want to integrate on demand without the burden of
installing and maintaining software or appliances on premise. Boomi is
fundamentally redefining the integration market in much the same way that
salesforce.com transformed CRM. I would encourage people to visit our Web
site and take a free test drive. It'll change the way they think about
integration."
