Silicon Valley Leader Jeff Nolan to Head NewsGator's Software-as-a-Service Business
NewsGator Continues to Expand Its Syndication and Data Services to Help Companies Enrich Their Brands and Extend Their Reach

DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - January 17, 2008) - NewsGator Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in RSS and Enterprise 2.0, announced today that Jeff Nolan has been named Vice
President, NewsGator Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), a new position.
Previously NewsGator's Vice President of Corporate Development, Nolan is
the former CEO of Teqlo, an SAP veteran and venture capitalist with
extensive experience leading innovation in social media, Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 technologies.
NewsGator's SaaS business, which encompasses the company's syndication and data services offerings, today has more than 50 media and
online publishing customers, including USA Today, Media General, Discovery
Channel and CNN. Using NewsGator's Widget Framework, underlying content
network and editorial tools, these customers are able to extend their
content and brands while positively impacting important online metrics that
enhance their economics.
With NewsGator's recent decision to offer free RSS readers, the company is rapidly
expanding its community of users. The result is an ever-increasing
collection of attention and relevance metadata that enables NewsGator to
extend its SaaS offerings, via API and hosted services, to a broad range of
segments beyond media. Nolan will help NewsGator capitalize on this
opportunity.
"Since joining NewsGator late last year, I've come to realize that the
company's market opportunity and position is even stronger than I had
anticipated. Underlying this of course is a great team that has done
something few companies can boast of, build a software-as-a-service
business in parallel with a growing enterprise software business," said
Nolan. "We are not satisfied to just lead the market today -- we intend to
continue innovating and delivering the products and services that define
the next generation of RSS and syndication. Media and brand companies, as well as their agency partners,
are in an incredibly fast-moving technology market. We are a trusted
partner, and our customers are on the forward edge of innovation as a
result."
"Jeff has an impressive background in Silicon Valley as both an investor
and innovator, and he has been a key operator at the intersection of
Web-based business services and new delivery models," said J.B. Holston,
NewsGator CEO and president. "As NewsGator's capabilities and product
offerings evolve, we are aggressively pursuing a wide range of
opportunities to extend our SaaS-based businesses and metadata services to
a broad range of market segments beyond media. Jeff is ideally suited to
lead our charge in this area."
Prior to joining NewsGator as the company's VP of Corporate Development in
September 2007, Nolan led Teqlo, a high-profile startup that developed
platforms for mashups and other user-assembled applications. Nolan was also
a general partner at SAP Ventures and later led the strategy team for the
Apollo Group at SAP. He continues to author the popular Venture Chronicles blog.
