Sponda's Vuosaari Harbour logistics complex tops out

The PortGate logistics complex being built by Sponda has reached its full
height in Vuosaari Harbour. The logistics complex, which will be completed
towards the end of this year, will offer companies based in the harbour modern
logistics premises that will streamline freight distribution.

Vuosaari harbour will be Finland's largest general harbour. The harbour project
is also unique by international standards, for a completely new freight harbour
has not been built in Western Europe for a long time.

The PortGate logistics complex comprises the gatehouse complex and a logistics
area of 130,000 square metres, of which 70,000 square metres will be built in
the first phase. The gatehouse complex will house the 13-storey PortGate office
building, which will be a landmark in the harbour area, as well as a passenger
terminal and parking for 460 cars.

“The PortGate logistics complex is one of Sponda's largest projects, and it
also demonstrates Sponda's activity in property development in the logistics
sector. We are committed to leasing and developing the PortGate logistics
complex on a long-term basis. The design of the premises takes into account the
changing needs of companies, and all efforts are made to build the premises so
that they best support the tenant's business,” stresses Sponda President and
CEO Kari Inkinen.

Construction project progressing on schedule

The main frames of the four buildings in the logistics area have mainly been
erected and work on their roofs has already started. The PortGate office
building serving the whole harbour has also reached its full height. Functions
to be located in the building include those of the Port of Helsinki and the
customs, as well as the offices of companies operating in the harbour.

About a quarter of the premises in the PortGate office building and in the
logistics area have already been leased.

The first phase of the logistics area and the gatehouse complex will be
completed in November 2008, when the harbour will start operations. The second
phase of the PortGate logistics complex will be completed in line with demand
for logistics premises. Main architects are Professor Kai Wartiainen and Aki
Alanko. Site planning and architectural design of the buildings are by Evata
Finland Oy, and construction is by Lujatalo Oy.
