New "MacroMAXe" Mobile WiMAX Base Station Sets Standard for Features, Range and Capacity

Airspan and Fujitsu Partner in Building Innovative Product

BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - February 6, 2008) - Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN), a leading provider of WiMAX-based broadband wireless access networks, and Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702), a leading provider of customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today announced they had signed a four-year cooperation agreement to jointly build a leading-class Mobile WiMAX Base Station designed for carriers in the 2.5 and 2.3 GHz bands. This new Base Station combines the advanced technologies of both parties and will significantly cut the time to market and allow both companies to take a leadership position in the dynamic 2.5 and 2.3 GHz frequency bands.

The new compact and high power Base Station, which Airspan calls "MacroMAXe," is designed to minimize a WiMAX carrier's capital outlay and ongoing operational costs. The Base Station can deliver two to three times the capacity of similar products by using a highly featured implementation of the WiMAX radio interface. MacroMAXe will also enable carriers to operate with both today's and future versions of the Mobile WiMAX Air interface, providing protection for their investment in Mobile WiMAX Infrastructure.

Eric Stonestrom, CEO and President of Airspan Networks, said, "Carriers have been looking for a compact all-outdoor base station with a superior link budget and feature set. Together with Fujitsu, we are delivering a base station for the 2 GHz bands which sets the standard in the market."

Mr Iwabuchi, President of Fujitsu's Mobile Systems Business Unit, commented, "By combining the talents of both companies we are able to attain new levels of achievement. Fujitsu's technology and this agreement with Airspan enable us to put a superior product to work for WiMAX solutions very quickly. We're pleased to say we're on track to meet carriers' timelines for deployment in the 2 GHz bands this year, both in Japan and the rest of the world."

Key Product Details:
-- Spectrum: 2.3-2.4 and 2.5-2.7 GHz Bands
-- High Power: two 10W channels with no cable loss
-- Software Defined Baseband
-- All-Outdoor: fully integrated (GPS, Sector Aggregation, and Fiber
   backhaul)
-- Compact: < 20 Litres
-- 20-MHz Channels: with Dual-MAC/PHY architecture (2 x 10 MHz per unit)
-- High-Capacity: 75 Mbit/s

Both parties will independently and jointly sell the Base Station with deployments planned for the second quarter 2008.
