City National Bank Hires Prominent Nevada Banker Gary Harmon as Senior Vice President and Relationship Manager in Its Real Estate Division


LAS VEGAS, Feb. 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank today announced that it has hired one of Nevada's most prominent and well-known banking and lending professionals Gary Harmon as senior vice president and relationship manager in its Real Estate Division. Harmon, who will be housed at the bank's new regional headquarters facility in Summerlin, will be responsible for real estate lending throughout Nevada and will report to division head Shannon Cook, senior vice president and Nevada manager of the Real Estate Division. Harmon joins City National Bank with over 35 years of banking experience. Prior to joining City National, Harmon worked for Bank of America and its predecessor, Valley Bank of Nevada, for 22 years. During his tenure with these two banks, he served in a variety of positions, including his most recent job as senior vice president and market manager of the homebuilder division. He also worked in the commercial real estate group, corporate commercial lending, gaming finance and real estate lending groups.

Prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1985, Harmon served as vice president and senior lending officer for Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Association in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his banking career with this Ohio-based S&L in 1972 as a management trainee before becoming a branch manager followed by a loan officer in the construction and commercial lending group. Harmon also served as an officer for three years in the United States Army.

While Harmon will be physically housed in the bank's new regional center at 10801 W. Charleston Boulevard, Suite 250, in the Summerlin area in northwest Las Vegas, he will have statewide responsibilities for loan underwriting, relationship and risk management, and customer retention and business development of existing and new clients. He will also work very closely with the bank's branch relationship managers, business development officers, private banking and wealth management colleagues to help grow the bank's real estate loan portfolio with quality clients.

Harmon is a graduate of Ashland University in Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology. He also completed various banking courses from the University of Connecticut and Notre Dame University, as well as the American Institute of Banking (AIB). Harmon has been actively involved in the community serving as a member of various trade and nonprofit organizations, including Southern Nevada Homebuilder's Association, NAIOP, Nevada Bankers Association, HomeAid of Southern Nevada, and Habitat for Humanity.
