iWay Software Introduces Managed File Transfer

Eases Multi-Enterprise Integration

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 19, 2008) - Information Builders iWay Software, an innovator of enterprise integration solutions, today announced iWay Managed File Transfer Option, a new set of extensions to iWay Service Manager, Enterprise Edition™, which enables iWay to perform highly reliable, scalable, and auditable managed file transfer for files of any size, across multiple open file transfer protocols.

Managed File Transfer (MFT) is critically important for enterprises that have to move large volume files between sites or enterprises including partners and customers. Delivering this complex, multi-enterprise, cross-site integration or even simple file transfer between sites in a controlled fashion is a challenge to today's process integration technologies like the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB).

According to Gartner, "although SOA has brought new elements into infrastructure that enable companies to have greater agility and flexibility as well as reuse and abstraction, it doesn't eliminate the need for MFT -- it exacerbates it. Enterprise service buses (ESBs) offer a new approach to interoperable messaging and may be the basis of future applications and infrastructures in many cases. Although they tend to be less expensive and more pervasive (many application and infrastructure vendors include them in their products), ESBs are unable to gracefully move large files in an adequately managed way."(1)

Enterprises have established and maintained separate file movement systems on dedicated, and often archaic, file transfer infrastructures in addition to their newer real-time process integration technologies. This requires two separate operating environments to be maintained, licensed, trained for, and managed separately, and represents a significant organizational and financial commitment.

An extension of iWay Service Manager, iWay MFT provides a set of features and products to deliver multi-enterprise process integration. By enhancing the integration server to meet the multi-enterprise requirements around data volume, security, auditing, monitoring, and deployment, iWay's approach delivers an end-to-end integration solution that embraces file transfer and minimizes infrastructure duplication, while providing greater process and business visibility throughout the entire integration and file transfer landscape.

iWay MFT provides:

-- Cross-site, multi-enterprise integration infrastructure capable of
handling large files with a range of approaches, techniques, and options
-- Wide range of message formats and the broadest format support
    available
-- Variety of enveloping techniques and package formats, including
parsers that split messages, multi-threaded message execution, aggregators,
    and non-XML message processing options
-- Full eBusiness-capable security, auditing, and management
infrastructure while also accounting for the peculiarities of file
    transfers
-- Adapters that take existing protocols from their original intent (file
transfer only) to include advanced functionality required for secure,
managed transport of messages for cross-domain integration

"By expanding the capabilities of our integration server to support the unique requirements of multi-enterprise integration and managed file transfer, iWay helps organizations minimize their technology infrastructure while tightening real-time integration" said John Senor, President of iWay Software. "Our flexible, secure eBusiness message-based integration engine makes it faster and easier than ever before to embrace multi-enterprise opportunities across vendors, customers, and partners."

Pricing and Availability

iWay MFT is available immediately. Pricing is a $75,000 addition to iWay Service Manager, Enterprise Edition.
