Oregon Health & Science University goes live with Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX(TM) RIS

RIS/PACS integration at OHSU will be tightened for increased workflow efficiencies

HIMSS (booth #7763) / Orlando, FL (USA) - February 25, 2008 - 13:30 EST

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today that Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) went live last week with its newly-installed IMPAX(TM) Radiology Information System (RIS).  The second phase of the project will include IMPAX Scheduling, Agfa HealthCare's leading hospital scheduling system, that allows hospital staff and referring physicians to make and view appointments.

Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX solution is a single image-enabled radiology CIS (Clinical Information System).  Radiologists will find the information they need in one place, helping them to make informed decisions, promoting improved patient experiences, and potentially reducing unnecessary examinations or retakes.  The goal is improving diagnostic confidence, proving rapid delivery of results and reducing patient wait times and patient stays.

The simple and intuitive user interface of Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX Scheduling is highly configurable by the user as well as medical personnel. This enables the optimization of the solution for each clinical discipline, allowing different workflows to be incorporated. A rules-based logic tool built within the solution helps to reduce scheduler errors and the number of clicks required to complete a task.

"We chose Agfa HealthCare's solutions IMPAX RIS and IMPAX Scheduling because of the tight integration between the RIS and our current IMPAX PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System). We expect to see increased workflow efficiencies as a result," said Erwin Schwarz, director of OHSU Diagnostic Imaging Services. "The IMPAX Scheduling system will be used for radiology scheduling but will be integrated into our enterprise scheduling solution, so our group will gain efficiencies in patient and resource management."

"We are pleased to be working with OHSU to help bring quality workflow enhancements to its facility," said Barry Stone, Regional Manager IT Business Division, Agfa HealthCare, U.S. "Healthcare facilities around the world like OHSU are making similar gains in operational efficiencies by implementing tightly integrated enterprise workflow systems. We are proud to play a part in helping OHSU achieve its operational and clinical goals."
Agfa HealthCare kindly invites you to visit its booth at HIMSS 2008 (Booth #7763) to discover its solutions and Works in Progress.  The annual conference and exhibition will be held at the Orlando Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, from February 24 until 28.
