Photo Release -- Osbourne, Zappa to Record Big Band Crooner CD With Brian Evans

LOS ANGELES, March 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In what will likely be the only big band CD you'll ever hear the last names "Osbourne" and "Zappa" attached to, crooner Brian Evans is making one unique album.

Evans, previously the opening act for stars ranging from Jay Leno to Social Distortion, and whose music is currently heard on television shows such as "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Big Shots," is prepping to release a CD this year around the world, and doesn't hide the fact that his record will be different than competitor crooners.

"I'm not using the crooner word as a marketing hook. I am a crooner. I always have been. When kids were listening to KISS in school, I was listening to my grandmother's Bobby Vinton albums. My music will be original material for the most part, and it will stick to the genre," says Evans.

Ahmet Zappa, son of the late legendary rock musician Frank Zappa, has written, and will produce "Super Spy" for Brian Evans. Chris Walden, the Grammy nominated producer who has worked with the likes of Michael Bolton and John Williams, will produce twelve of the thirteen tracks.

Evans will record only four covers, but wrote the eight remaining songs on the project.

"If I sing everyone else's material, then what am I other than a big budget karaoke act?" says Evans. "If I'm doing a cover, it'll be made different, but I think it requires original material, this entire genre. I'm not going to write an original song under the guise of being a crooner that has nothing to do with the genre. You'll get what you pay for."

The CD is currently underway, and will be released this year.

Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, will sing "Blue Bayou" with Evans. Evans hand picked the singer for the project after considering dozens of artists.

His music is music you've likely already heard. His version of "Witchcraft" is used on ABC's "Big Shots" (see http://youtube.com/watch?v=DG5a-O76B1o). An actor is lip synching Evans. His version of the song "It Had To Be You" is heard on Fox TV's "So You Think You Can Dance" (see http://youtube.com/watch?v=oyXSHD5_97U). Licensing of his music has occurred as far away as Poland and Germany. His previous recordings may be purchased at iTunes and all other download sites throughout the world.

"This CD has been more than two years in the making, and I'm just thrilled to be almost done," says Evans.

Evans has been friends with Ahmet since the late '80s when the both were young teens. As for Osbourne, Evans says: "I don't care if her name was Joan Smith, if you heard the voice I have heard, you'd want her for your CD too. Kelly has an amazing voice that I personally believe people haven't even really heard yet. This is my first big CD, and I aim to make it the best it can be."

Nearly 55 musicians behind Evans will make sure of it.
