DETROIT, April 2, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The legendary Lebanese vocalist Walid Toufic will perform at the MGM Grand Detroit on Sunday April 13, 2008 at 7:30 pm. He will be joined by the Iraqi songstress Shatha Hassoun and by Comedian Elie Ayoub.
The concert is being promoted by Luxury Live Productions and is presented by Luxury Limousine and the MGM Grand Detroit. Walid Toufic was born in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli. As a young boy he was tutored on the oud or lute, a pear shaped instrument which is the predecessor to the guitar. In 1973, Toufic made his debut on the famous Lebanese television program, "Studio El Fen." It was this program which launched his career to become one of the leading vocalists in the Middle East. Today, Walid Toufic is known throughout the Middle East as one of the most prolific vocalists of Arabic pop music.
Shatha Hassoun was born in Morocco to an Iraqi father and Moroccan mother. Hassoun sings in many languages and dialects including Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Italian & German. She became a successful star after winning first place on Star Academy in Lebanon.
