Amsterdam, the Netherlands, April 21, 2008 — Akzo Nobel (Euronext Amsterdam: AKZ) has announced that, in line with the launch of its EUR 1 billion share buyback program on March 17, 2008, the company has repurchased 516,500 ordinary shares in the period April 14 until April 18, 2008. Shares were repurchased at an average price of EUR 56.66.
The EUR 1 billion program is the first tranche of a EUR 3 billion share buyback program.

The total number of shares repurchased under this program to date is 2,116,500 ordinary shares for a total consideration of EUR 113.6 million.
