NASDAQ Chief Economist to Address Important Issues Affecting Business Environment At NIRI Arizona Event


PHOENIX, May 1, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Arizona Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI Arizona - www.niriaz.org) announced today that Dr. Frank M. Hatheway, Chief Economist and Vice President of the NASDAQ Stock Market, will be the guest speaker at NIRI Arizona's May 23 luncheon program.

During this luncheon, Dr. Hatheway will provide an in depth look at the state of our market and will share his prognostications, risk factors and economic drivers for 2008. Discussion topics could include U.S. dollar performance, hedge fund trading, market volatility, derivatives, short selling and participants' questions of global economic significance.

Dr. Hatheway is responsible for a variety of initiatives that support the NASDAQ market and improve its structure. Since joining NASDAQ in 2001, he has carried out a number of studies on NASDAQ and other markets, developed NASDAQ's opening and closing auctions, and advised on major corporate initiatives such as OMX, the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, and the NASDAQ Options Market. Dr. Hatheway has served as an Economic Fellow and Senior Research Scholar with the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission and received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University.
