WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2008
11:00 a.m.
WHERE: Hi Puppies!
955 South Vermont Avenue, Suite B
Los Angeles, CA 90006
WHAT: Hi Puppies' primary supplier is World Kennels, a puppy mill that was
recently exposed as having more than 400 dogs at their unlicensed facility.
Hi Puppies sells these dogs for several hundred to thousands of dollars
each. Just days ago more than 100 dogs, mostly exhausted mothers used for
constant breeding, were liberated from the hellish life at World Kennels
puppy mill in LA County. Best Friends is leading the adoption and
rehabilitation of the dogs. World Kennels came under fire after an
investigation by Last Chance for Animals.
The perception is that puppy mills are a Midwestern disgrace but California
is fast becoming the puppy mill capital of the West.
So to bring awareness for these amazing mothers who are also puppy mill
survivors this Mother's Day Weekend, it just seems fitting that these
little moms will go from being numbers to being given names of their own.
One particular dog will also receive a Mother's Day card with 50 paw prints
which represent the puppies that she and mother dogs in puppy mills across
the country are forced to produce over the course of their sad,
heartbreaking lives.
WHO: Last Chance for Animals, an international non-profit animal advocacy
organization based in Los Angeles, Best Friends Animal Society, and mother
dogs rescued from World Kennels puppy mill.
