First Reference Design From BroadLogic's China R&D Center to Speed Delivery of Solutions That Let MSOs Go All-Digital
SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - May 13, 2008) - BroadLogic Network Technologies, a leading
provider of silicon solutions for broadband networks, will unveil a
reference design for a whole-home solution residential gateway at the NCTA
show in New Orleans, May 18-20, executive suite ES-49 on the show floor.
Based on the company's advanced TeraPIX™ chip, the reference design is
the first product developed by the recently opened BroadLogic R&D Center in
China. The reference design will enable cable equipment manufacturers to
rapidly develop and produce analog residential gateways for single family
residential applications. Solutions based upon the reference design will
allow multiple system operators (MSOs) to continue delivering an analog TV
service tier to the estimated 30 million cable homes that are analog only
while still supporting digital services to those subscribers who require
both service tiers.
Going all-digital will maintain cable's competitive edge by providing more
advanced services, enabling them to stay ahead of other service providers.
A residential gateway, based on the advanced TeraPIX multi-channel video
processor, delivers a cost-effective, non-disruptive solution benefiting
today's MSO strategies.
Unlike any other product on the market today, a BroadLogic-based
residential gateway converts any portion of the digital signal and
recreates and delivers an analog signal to every analog television in the
home without the need for set-top boxes. The residential gateway is a
simple, elegant solution that complements other efforts on the part of
cable operators to enhance their spectrum, allowing them to go all-digital
and reclaim substantial bandwidth without requiring a network rebuild.

company's engineering capabilities and allows BroadLogic and its customers
to deliver new products to market faster. Opened late last year, the
BroadLogic Development Center is wholly owned by BroadLogic. BroadLogic
engineering and development is distributed between the company's
headquarters in San Jose and the new center in Beijing.
