The necessary printing equipment is gradually installed beginning to establish the new-built book production plant of JSC Ventspils nafta subsidiary JSC Preses nams, which is located at Jāņsili, Silakrogs at the Ropaži civil parish. The production area of the plant, which is located in three blocks, reaches 7000 square meters and 13.5 million lats have been invested into the plant. In future it is planned to increase and possibly even double the book printing volumes. At present, 250,000-350,000 books per month are printed - this number will increase up to 500,000-700,000 books per month after a complete installation of the up-to-date printing equipment in the new plant. The mentioned increase in printing volumes will be ensured by supplementing the high-quality equipment used now in production at JSC Preses nams with the newly purchased up-to-date printing equipment and technologies to print and process hardbound and soft-cover books. This advanced and currently most powerful equipment is suitable for production of practically any kind of books in the highest quality. The new printing house means considerable investments in order to ensure future prospects for the company. When it will be put in operation, which is planned in August 2008, the biggest printing company in the Baltic States JSC Preses nams will become one of the major book-production plants in Northern Europe and it will also be one of 300 major book production companies worldwide. “We are really glad that during a time when the economic situation is so tense in Latvia, there is a company in the JSC Ventspils nafta Group that has been able to build even two plants at the same time irrespective of different external circumstances. The book production plant will start working already this summer, and it is planned to finish construction of the journal production plant until the end of 2008,” underlines the Chairperson of the Management Board of JSC Ventspils nafta Olga Pētersone. Whereas the Executive Director of the Latvian Association of Printing Companies Ieva Bečere points out that, by opening of the modern book production plant of JSC Preses nams, the image of the state in printing industry will continue to improve internationally, proving that there are great production traditions and up-to-date possibilities in Latvia, as well as technologically highly equipped companies for realization of these possibilities. JSC Preses nams is preparing to begin wholesome production in the new book production plant soon and has put intense work in export market research and marketing. A new Commercial Director of JSC Preses nams Mats Lewin from Sweden has started working to explore and use these possibilities. His previous working experience is directly connected to trade, service industry and management. M.Lewin has been a commercial experts training manager at IKEA in Russia. When working at the leading staff consultations company in Northern Europe SLG International, Lewin created and introduced Vodafone, Ericsson Cable and training programs for commercial experts of other globally known companies. In the Baltic States M.Lewin has cooperated with SEB Unibanka, Unilīzings, Astra Zeneca, Volvo Trucks, Linstow Warner and PRIME Recruitement.
