MIT 1000 System to Undergo Second Independent Evaluation for Identification of Major Food Pathogens

SAN CLEMENTE, CA--(Marketwire - July 8, 2008) - Micro Imaging Technology, Inc. (OTCBB: MMTC) announces that its product, the MIT 1000 Rapid Microbial Identification System, will undergo a second independent evaluation of its performance in identifying key food pathogens. Earlier, the Company announced that the USDA's chief scientific center, Agricultural Research Service is evaluating the MIT 1000 System.

MIT has contracted Pacific Coast Analytical Services (PCAS), a full service testing laboratory focused on environmental, chemical and microbiology testing to evaluate the MIT 1000 System for the detection and identification of the most ubiquitous food pathogens that include E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria. The MIT 1000 will be compared with conventional testing processes available at PCAS and evaluated for identification accuracy, speed, and test costs.

In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that E.coli & Salmonella are on the rise in food contamination that causes 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths annually. The CDC further reported that a survey of 10 states identified that 45% of those deaths are caused by bacterial contamination.

"The food industry is one of our targeted markets and we are pleased that PCAS will evaluate our System's performance to identify dangerous widespread food pathogens and confirm our stated cost per test of less than 10 cents," stated Michael Brennan, MIT's Chairman. Dr. Claudio Cardelli, PCAS' President, further stated, "If the MIT 1000 System performs as expected, this identification process could reduce and possibly eliminate food contaminated with pathogens from ever reaching the consumer." Mr. Brennan further stated, "Part of our 2008 strategy is to have at least three independent evaluations that validate the System's value proposition while creating an application database that can benefit future customers."

About Micro Imaging Technology

The Company has developed and patented a technology for rapid microbe detection and identification. This System measures scattered light intensity as individual microbes pass through a laser beam. The intensity pattern of the scattered light is a direct consequence of the size, shape and external and internal optical characteristics of the microbe. The MIT System is non-biological and does not rely on biological agents, conventional chemical processing, fluorescent tags, gas chromatography or DNA analysis.

MIT has demonstrated the ability to detect and identify, within several minutes, the microbes Escherichia coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, and other pathogenic bacteria. MIT recently performed over 300 tests for the identification of the aforementioned contaminants and scored 95% accuracy. The System can currently identify 23 species of bacteria and is easily expandable. The identification process has been verified by North American Science Associates, Inc. (NAMSA), an independent, internationally recognized biological testing laboratory. The NAMSA Test Report, in the Company's opinion, demonstrated the accuracy, speed and efficiency of the MIT System over conventional processes and is available from the Company
