Second Annual 'Community Leadership Awards' to be Presented September 9th in New York City

Financial Advisors Across the U.S. Honored for Exemplary Community Service

NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation and InvestmentNews will present the second annual Community Leadership Awards on September 9, 2008 at the Hilton New York. During this dinner program, financial advisors will be honored for their outstanding leadership and commitment to making a difference in their communities. Proceeds from the dinner go directly into the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity founded with the mission of encouraging and supporting the philanthropic and volunteer activities of financial advisors in the U.S.

The awards program recognizes financial advisors from any brokerage firm, broker/dealer, or RIA firm for their roles as leaders and active volunteers in their community organizations. This year, nearly 500 nominations were received and more than two-thirds of these financial advisors are affiliated with a wirehouse, regional, insurance or independent broker/dealer. Approximately 40% of those nominated have been volunteering for the same non-profit organization for more than 10 years, and more than 10% of the nominees founded or co-founded the charitable organization they serve. The organizations benefiting from the involvement of dedicated financial advisors represent a broad range of important humanitarian causes, including education, housing, medical research, after-school programs, violence prevention and many, many more.

Awards will be presented to financial advisors in the following four categories: Volunteer Team Award, Mentoring Excellence Award, Volunteer of the Year Award, and Community Leadership Award. The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation will present a donation of $10,000 to each category honoree's charity during the dinner program. A $500 donation will also be made to each of the finalists' charities.

The keynote speaker of the evening will be Blake Mycoskie, founder and "Chief Shoe Giver" of TOMS Shoes for Tomorrow, who will share his story about his journey into the heart of developing nations and to the heart of consumers who participate in his "one for one" program. For every pair of shoes sold, one pair is donated to a shoeless child in an impoverished country. Since founding TOMS Shoes for Tomorrow in 2006, Mycoskie has donated more than 66,000 pairs of Argentine-style alpagatas to needy children.

"We are thrilled to present our second annual Community Leadership Awards through which we help support philanthropy in the financial services industry and honor outstanding individuals who have dedicated countless hours to make their communities a better place. The inspiration for this foundation came directly from the many talented and successful financial advisors across our industry and our wish to recognize their valuable work," said Kandis Bates, president of the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation, Inc.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the Community Leadership Awards and range from $5,000 to $35,000. Individual tickets are $500 and tax-deductible.
