SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - August 7, 2008) - Devicescape Software, the leader in seamless
and secure Wi-Fi technology for devices, has recently released its
next-generation Wi-Fi connection technology with Cisco Compatible
Extensions Version 5 support, providing device manufacturers with
technology and support to complete the Cisco Compatible Extensions
certification process for their enterprise devices. The certification
helps ensure a high degree of device security and interoperability with the
Cisco Unified Wireless Network for business mobility applications.
Devicescape is a leading provider of the Cisco standard for mobile devices
with its Devicescape Agent with Cisco Compatible Extensions -- a Wi-Fi
supplicant that is already deployed in hundreds of enterprise devices.
Cisco established the Cisco Compatible Extensions program to enable its
partners to create devices that can seamlessly connect and retain the
integrity of the enterprise security of a Cisco Unified Wireless Network.
Cisco continues to develop future Cisco Compatible features and work with
industry-leading partners to empower customers with mobility solutions to
solve business challenges, today and in the future. The latest innovations
are extant in Cisco Compatible Extensions Version 5, and allow
manufacturers to embed technologies that enterprise customers demand and
desire.
"Cisco Compatible Extensions is a requirement for device manufacturers
wishing to sell into today's enterprise markets," said Dave Fraser, CEO of
Devicescape. "Devicescape provides our customers with the latest standards
in security and manageability. And with the Cisco certification,
Devicescape customers can be assured that their devices are compatible and
interoperable in all their target markets."
"The latest version of Cisco Compatible Extensions improves the connection
experience of devices connecting to a Cisco Unified Wireless Network," said
Christophe Servais, Cisco's marketing manager of mobility solutions. "The
security and troubleshooting enhancements offer enterprises the confidence
that wireless is secure and easy to manage."
Cisco Compatible Extensions V5 is a key component of the Devicescape Agent
toolset, the wireless software (supplicant) that allows connecting a device
to a Wi-Fi network. The Devicescape Agent solution provides an additional
layer of features to the elements of Cisco Compatible Extensions Version 4,
including diagnostic and troubleshooting support, statistics gathering,
management frame protection and improved performance.
The Devicescape supplicant must be used in tandem with a Wi-Fi chipset and
driver enabled with Cisco Compatible Extensions to meet certification
requirements. Previous versions of the Devicescape Agent with Cisco
Compatible Extensions have shipped in devices from Research in Motion, HP,
Fujitsu, Honeywell and others. The Devicescape Agent support for Cisco
Compatible Extensions V5 was made available in May 2008.
