Industry Associations Join Together to Create Special Interest Group for Public Sector HR
| Source: HROA
WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - August 13, 2008) - The Human Resources Outsourcing Association
(HROA) and the International Public Management Association for Human
Resources (IPMA-HR) today announced that they have joined forces to create
a special interest group (SIG) to promote and support public sector HR
transformation.
The SIG will establish a community of interest among people who are leading
or aiding and abetting the transformation of human resources in the public
sector, thereby enabling constructive dialogue among public sector HR
practitioners, service providers, technology vendors, government
procurement/acquisition officers, and other involved parties.
"As of this moment, no single organization is adequately addressing the
needs of those of us seeking to fundamentally transform the human resources
function in government and other not-for-profit organizations. By
marshalling the unique resources of these two disparate organizations --
IPMA-HR and HROA -- we are effectively establishing a comprehensive body of
knowledge that we believe will serve public servants well," said Richard
Whitford, Co-Chairman of the SIG and the Transportation Security
Administration's Assistant Administrator for Human Capital.
The SIG will provide networking opportunities for those who are guiding and
directing HR transformation initiatives in their organizations, enabling
continuous learning via knowledge sharing. Members of the SIG also will
gain access to valuable resources such as case studies, whitepapers and
published findings about the industry.
"As we continue to see an unprecedented number of public employees retire
over the next few years, it is critical that we increase our focus on
talent acquisition and management, human capital strategies, and HR service
delivery effectiveness and efficiency," said Glenn Davidson, Co-Chairman of
the SIG and Managing Director of EquaTerra's Public Sector Practice. "This
special interest group will serve as the forum for in-depth discussions
about these issues and the development of action plans that its members may
adapt for their own purposes."
The SIG is open to any public sector executive who serves as the head of HR
and his or her deputy or equivalent.
Members of IPMA-HR interested in joining the SIG should contact Jessica
Allen at 703/549-7100 or jallen@ipma-hr.org. Members of the HROA interested
in joining the SIG should contact Adam Bleifeld at 202-905-0351 x19 or
Adam.bleifeld@hroa.org.
