Leostream Announces Reseller and Support Agreement With IBM

IBM Will Resell and Offer Support for Leostream Connection Broker Software With Its Workstation Blades and VCS Solutions

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - September 16, 2008) - VMworld 2008 - Leostream Corporation (www.leostream.com), a leading developer of Virtual Hosted Desktop software, today announced that it has teamed with IBM to establish a reselling relationship for its Connection Broker software. IBM will resell and support the Leostream Connection Broker software with its IBM BladeCenter® HC10 Workstation Blade and VCS solutions. Together with the HC10 and the IBM CP20 Workstation Connection Device, Connection Broker provides a powerful, flexible workstation blade solution that reduces the heat, noise, and clutter associated with traditional workstations by moving desktop assets and corporate Intellectual Property to the BladeCenter.

Leostream Connection Broker software enables organizations to manage end user access to computing resources such as Virtual Hosted Desktops, Physical Machines, and Terminal Services. It provides a scalable and fault-tolerant management layer to centralize and consolidate IT resources in the data center, and then create, assign, and deliver Hosted Desktops to end users.

The HC10 Workstation Blade is IBM's server-based desktop computing solution, providing the benefits associated with centralized consolidation of desktop data and applications. Use of the HC10/CP20 solution in conjunction with Leostream Connection Broker creates a flexible, secure, and more efficient end user infrastructure and can reduce IT resource needs, and power and cooling costs by up to 40% compared with traditional Desktop workstation.

"IBM's HC10 Workstation Blade is the ideal platform for server-hosted client computing, which is rapidly gaining in popularity thanks to its ability to lower energy costs while increasing the security of workstation computing," said Scott Tease, worldwide marketing manager for IBM BladeCenter. "Leostream enhances this solution by providing greater flexibility and efficiency."

Leostream also offers additional flexibility for HC10/CP20 deployments by supporting both RDP and the Teradici™ PC-over-IP™ protocol. This enables HC10 "split blade" deployments in which PC-over-IP can support the demands of high performance workstations, such as CAD, trading floor applications, and GIS, while RDP can be used for more conventional workstation uses.

The HC10 Workstation Blade comes with a Leostream Connection Broker Basic license that enables a complete workstation solution for the HC10/CP20 system, including management capabilities.

Part of the IBM Virtual Client Solution

Leostream Connection Broker software is also offered as a part of IBM's Virtual Client Solution (VCS). With Leostream as the connection brokering layer, VCS can offer a complete Hosted Desktop virtualization solution supporting heterogeneous deployments that can connect virtual machines, physical machines (including IBM HC10 Workstation Blades), and Terminal Server sessions with a range of client devices, including thin clients, "fat" clients, and web-based clients.

This provides optimal flexibility when creating Hosted Desktops from mixed IT environments, improves the Total Cost of Ownership for all devices, increases security, and makes systems administration and management more efficient.

"The Leostream Connection Broker is part of IBM's strategy to offer the best and most flexible Virtual Client Solution available," said Donn Bullock, Program Director, Virtual Client Solutions, Mainline Information Systems, one of IBM's largest Premiere Business Partners. "The Connection Broker will help IT administrators get the most value from both IBM HC10/CP20-only and mixed deployments with a tightly integrated hardware and software solution. Mainline sees strong interest from customers in building Hosted Desktop environments."

IBM is offering the Leostream Connection Broker as part of its VCS through IBM Business Partners as well as throughSystem X and BladeCenter Sales Representatives. For more information about IBM VCS offerings, visit http://tinyurl.com/6btadc.

"Leostream Connection Broker is designed to make the HC10 Workstation Blade solution even more flexible, efficient, and robust, allowing organizations to derive the most value from investment in this system," said Leostream CEO Michael Palin. "In particular, the Connection Broker reduces the operational cost of assigning blades to users, seamlessly handles blade failure, reduces the overall system cost through a rich set of configurable policies, and offers end users highly flexible and secure blade access from any CP20 Client Device. And with IBM's VCS, Leostream helps bring new flexibility and simplicity to IBM customers who need to build a versatile Hosted Desktop environment from a heterogeneous environment."
