Cisco to Become Senior Sponsor of Shanghai World Expo 2010


SHANGHAI, CHINA--(Marketwire - September 18, 2008) - Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) signed a Sponsor Agreement today with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination to become a senior sponsor of the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The international exposition will explore the full potential of urban life in the 21st century with a focus on innovation and interaction. Under the sponsor agreement, Expo 2010 will take advantage of the best and advanced Cisco technologies to support a high quality, personal experience and interaction for visitors, customized to their individual needs and interests.

Cisco is the first IT senior sponsor for Expo 2010 for data network products and solutions. In alignment with Expo 2010's theme of "Better City, Better Life," Cisco, which is dedicated to enhancing people's lives with green information technology, will share its experiences in sustainable urban development from around the world. Cisco as senior sponsor will provide Shanghai World Expo the core network equipment as well as innovative products and services represented by Cisco TelePresence, WebEx web conferencing and Cisco Unified IP phone, etc. Cisco will also participate and contribute to the exhibition pavilion and demonstrate innovative technologies for sustainable urban development and digital city.

Attending the agreement signing were Yang Xiong, vice mayor of Shanghai; Zhong Yanqun, Party Secretary General, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo; Hong Hao, Director General of World Expo; Jim Sherriff, chairman and CEO of Cisco China; Owen Chan, president of Cisco APAC; and Thomas Lam, president of Cisco China.

The Shanghai World Expo 2010 is so far the largest world exposition in terms of the numbers of participants and countries registered to participate.
