BRAWLEY, CA--(Marketwire - October 1, 2008) - Brandt Beef - The True Natural, a single family
owned, premium natural beef producer, announced today its participation in
Chef Showdown 2008. The fourth annual culinary competition will be hosted
by the Center for Community Solutions (CCS), a non-profit agency dedicated
to domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention
services. The event will be held on Thursday, October 2 from 6 - 9 p.m. at
the Legacy Plaza and Luce Court, NTC Promenade in Point Loma, Calif.
Chef Showdown is an "Iron Chef" style culinary competition featuring
prominent chefs from some of San Diego's top restaurants including:
Barona, Café Chloe, Café Japango, Croces, El Bizcocho, Isabel's Cantina,
Marine Room, Oceanaire, Quarter Kitchen, Rancho Valencia, Urban Solace and
Viejas. During the competition, two teams of six chefs will prepare a
selection of dishes for a panel of local celebrity chef judges. The dishes
will be evaluated on taste, presentation and creativity. Brandt Beef will
be providing one of the "challenge ingredients," which will be a surprise
cut of beef that the chefs will prepare during the competition.
"At Brandt Beef, we are committed to giving back to our community and are
honored to support CCS through the Chef Showdown," said Eric Brandt,
managing partner of Brandt Beef. "We encourage community members to help
support CCS by attending this exciting culinary competition, where guests
will be able to sample delicious foods and enjoy live entertainment."
The Chef Showdown will be hosted by Bernard Guillas, executive chef of the
Marine Room and Sam Zien, Emmy® award winner, known as "Sam the Cooking
Guy." In addition to the competition, guests will be able to sample foods
and beverages from more than 25 San Diego restaurants. A silent auction
will also be held during the event.
Funds raised through the Chef Showdown will support CCS programs for
domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention. CCS is
dedicated to creating communities free from violence through education,
therapeutic services and legal advocacy. Tickets for the Chef Showdown are
$125 and can be purchased at www.ccssd.org or by calling CCS at (858)
