GN Netcom Announces Replacement of ATL Batteries in GN9120 Headsets

In cooperation with the Danish Safety Technology Authority
(Sikkerhedsstyrelsen) and the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, GN
Netcom today announces a battery replacement program for approximately 1.2
million batteries manufactured by Amperex Technology Limited (“ATL”) and used
in the GN Netcom-branded GN9120 wireless headset.

Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat. In the
interest of public safety, GN Netcom will offer customers free-of-charge
battery replacements. The headsets were sold to end-users directly by GN
Netcom, by GN Netcom's sales channel Hello Direct and through distributors and
resellers from January 2005 through September 2008.

GN Netcom is taking action to recover the costs of the replacement program and
related losses from the battery manufacturer ATL. GN Netcom has been advised
that it has a solid case against ATL in respect of such costs. In other words,
the battery replacement program should not affect GN's financial results
adversely.

However, until the position with ATL has been finalized, a negative liquidity
effect relating to the battery replacement program of up to DKK 85 million
could materialize. The negative liquidity effect is expected to accumulate over
several quarters.

The batteries to be replaced were included in GN9120 wireless headsets, which
are intended for office use and contact centers. The product consists of three
parts: a base station, a headset and a power adapter. The base stations and
headsets are labeled “GN Netcom” or “GN9120”. The affected batteries have a
white plastic enclosure and are labeled “Made by ATL (Amperex Technology Ltd.)”
and “(ATL P/N 603028)”. The affected batteries have also been sold as
replacement equipment labeled “GN9120 Battery replacement kit”.

More information about the replacement program can be found on
