NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - October 17, 2008) - The PIMCO Foundation, the charitable arm of the Newport Beach-based money management firm PIMCO, today announced it has awarded over $1.35 million in 2008 grants to 53 US charities and community organizations.

PIMCO Foundation Excellence Awards

In addition, outside of the grants program, three organizations received surprise PIMCO Foundation Excellence Awards during 2008. This year's awards focused on recognizing outstanding volunteers in fundraising. Grants were made to the following organizations on behalf of the award recipients.

The PIMCO Foundation also announced that their window for accepting grant applications for next year will open on May 15th and will close on July 15th.
