The PIMCO Foundation Announces $1,350,000 in Grants to Support US Charities and Community Organizations


NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - October 17, 2008) - The PIMCO Foundation, the charitable arm of the Newport Beach-based money management firm PIMCO, today announced it has awarded over $1.35 million in 2008 grants to 53 US charities and community organizations.

With nearly 200 applicants, grants ranged from $5,000 to $35,000. The 2008 grants were awarded across multiple priority areas around the United States. The 2008 grant recipients were:

PIMCO Foundation Excellence Awards

In addition, outside of the grants program, three organizations received surprise PIMCO Foundation Excellence Awards during 2008. This year's awards focused on recognizing outstanding volunteers in fundraising. Grants were made to the following organizations on behalf of the award recipients.

          Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: $50,000
          Working Wardrobes: $50,000

       Bobbitt Williams:
          American Cancer Society: $100,000

The PIMCO Foundation also announced that their window for accepting grant applications for next year will open on May 15th and will close on July 15th. The PIMCO Foundation accepts grants nationally for US-based nonprofit organizations. Grant applications for 2009 will be available starting April 2008 at www.pimco.com.
