DAMSEL Magazine Seeks to be Acquired

Southern California's Premier Fashion and Lifestyle Publication Looks to Expand Operations Through Sale

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 30, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DAMSEL Magazine, the avant-garde Southern California lifestyle and fashion magazine that celebrated its one year anniversary in September of 2008, today announced it is seeking to be acquired.

DAMSEL Magazine has quickly established itself as a national brand with a circulation of more than 45,000. Bringing a taste of the Southern California lifestyle to readers across the U.S., DAMSEL has been touted as filling a niche in the publishing world for a magazine that blends surf culture with high fashion.

DAMSEL has featured internationally famous supermodels such as Mini Anden, who is best known for print campaigns for Chloe, Giorgio Armani and Banana Republic. It has also featured pop culture phenom Justin Bobby from The Hills, and other nationally known figures in fashion, culture and lifestyle.

"DAMSEL is unique among magazines because it brings wearable, accessible fashion to readers both here in Southern California and nationwide. Readers tell us they love when they see a piece creatively styled in the magazine, and it is a look they can wear the next day. In many cases, Southern California readers can find pieces from the magazine in local shops too," said Steve Jones, Principal of Better Shelter.

Advertisers in DAMSEL have included a variety of local boutiques, retailers and national brands such as Lillikoi boutique, Beach Works, Brixton Ltd., Element Eden, Roxy, Stussy, Billabong, Von Zipper, Irvine Spectrum, Kiehl's, Proactiv Solutions and others.

"Luann built an impressive list of contributors to the magazine through her ability to attract talented people to her vision. For example, Peggy Hall, her health and wellness contributor is a well-known feature writer whose bylines include Oxygen Magazine, ABC Radio Networks and Self Magazine. Her interior design editor, Steve Jones, is the Principal of Better Shelter and a pioneer in the development of green homes with modern design and well known in the surf industry," said Stacey Nunley, former art director for Orange Coast Magazine and current art director for DAMSEL.

"DAMSEL has become successful in a short time," said Luann Petix, Editor in Chief and owner of DAMSEL Magazine. "We are looking to expand distribution and partner with someone who can help continue our growth strategy," she continued.
