BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 30, 2008) - Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks Company (
NYSE:
HHS),
today announced that three of its senior industry analysts are
collaborating to write the authoritative book on Green IT for John Wiley &
Sons. "Green IT for Dummies" is scheduled for release in March 2009. "We
are extremely proud of this distinction," states Dr. Andrew Boyd, Chief
Research Officer of Aberdeen Group. "Green, sustainability and corporate
responsibility have primary focus for us and our research not only looks at
Green IT but green / sustainability / corporate responsibility issues in
the supply chain, in the food and beverage industry, in financial services,
in human capital -- everything our research touches. We are actively
engaging with organizations that understand the urgency of these matters."
In parallel with the creation of the book the Aberdeen team is actively
researching green IT for its December benchmark report entitled "The Green
IT Ecosystem."
"Today's world is in large part run and connected electronically.
Computers, computerized networks and the digital information they process
and convey link vital infrastructures, businesses, governments, health
care, research and individuals. All these electronic elements together form
the IT ecosystem. As a huge, conspicuous consumer of power and other
resources and a significant source of toxic emissions and hazardous waste,
the entire IT ecosystem needs to be examined through the lenses of green
and sustainability," comments Carol Baroudi, Research Director and "Green
IT for Dummies" co-author.
"We are actively identifying the specific elements of the green IT
ecosystem and associated lifecycle -- from sourcing and procurement,
through usage, optimization and management -- to responsible disposal. Our
report will examine best practices for assessing, optimizing, monitoring,
innovating and continuous improvement across clearly defined
green/sustainability/corporate responsibility criteria, making concrete
recommendations for organizations at every stage of green lifecycle
initiatives," mentions Jhana Senxian, Research Analyst and "Green IT for
Dummies" co-author.
The Aberdeen team of authors includes veteran "For Dummies" author and
research director Carol Baroudi whose earlier books include "The Internet
For Dummies," senior research analyst Jeffrey Hill who's been covering
green IT, including virtualization technologies, and Jhana Senxian of the
green / sustainability / corporate responsibility practice at Aberdeen.
They are joined by a fourth author, Arnold Reinhold, author of "Switching
to Macs For Dummies," and green topic expert for Wikipedia.
