FT. LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - November 26, 2008) - Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., a diversified

York City and affiliated international offices, today announced that firm
attorney Nelson Diaz has been appointed to the Miami-Dade County Community
Council of West Kendall.
The Community Councils, comprised of six members elected by the community
and one appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, make decisions
regarding land use and zoning inquiries and disputes in settings accessible
to the community. Mr. Diaz was appointed to the Council by Miami-Dade
County Commissioner Joe Martinez to fill the elected vacancy of Miguel
Cervera.
Mr. Diaz, an attorney in Becker & Poliakoff's Coral Gables office, is a
member of the Florida Bar and the Bar's Real Property, Probate and Trust
Law section. He graduated from Florida International University in 1996
with a degree in International Relations and earned his Law Degree, cum
laude, from the University of Florida College of Law in 2002.

County and State-wide legislative issues, and really understands how

experience will help to ensure the Community Council of West Kendall has a

Each Community Council member must be a registered voter and reside in the
area they represent. Members also serve as advisory liaisons to the Board
of County Commissioners and County Staff, and make recommendations to the
County Commissioner on capital, programming and operational priorities for
municipal services such as police, parks, fire and roadway maintenance in
their area.
In addition to his professional and community responsibilities, Mr. Diaz is
actively involved in philanthropic activities, including serving on the
Board of Directors for the Kristi House and the Institute for Child and
Family Health.
