As previously announced, AEC "adopted" a battalion of troops currently deployed to Afghanistan. The Company held a month-long drive to collect supplies and raise funds for our soldiers. Over 120 boxes weighing a total of approximately 3,000 pounds were sent to the troops containing items ranging from clothing and hygiene supplies to snacks and CDs/DVDs for our troops.
"The outpouring of support from both employees and residents across our 55+ offices and apartment communities was amazing. We estimate that we sent over $20,000 worth of new, unopened supplies for our troops," said Kimberly Kanary, vice president of corporate communications. "It's important to honor our military men and women who serve our country both at home and abroad, and we were honored that we had such positive and broad support for this effort," she continued.
The AECares program was implemented in 2001 to support the Company's commitment to communities where AEC does business.
