Final Deadline to Buy US Mint Bald Eagle Commemorative Coins on Friday, Dec. 12th

PIGEON FORGE, TN--(Marketwire - December 11, 2008) - Ewire -- The American Eagle Foundation (AEF) announced today that the United States Mint will no longer sell its 2008 Bald Eagle commemorative coins to the public after Friday, Dec. 12th.

The gold, silver and clad coins celebrate the recovery of the Bald Eagle to America and the upcoming 35th Anniversary of the Endangered Species Act on Dec. 28th (www.usmint.gov or 800-USA-MINT).

There are only 29,000 gold five dollars and 120,000 silver dollars remaining in the three-coin collection. All the coins feature the words "In God We Trust" and beautifully designed bald eagle images (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwZ_yKfr4Ws)

The Silver dollar is the only government issued coin to ever bear the original 1782 Great Seal of the United States, and the half dollar features the stately image of the celebrity bald eagle Challenger -- the only animal to ever have both its name and image placed on a legal tender coin (www.eagles.org/aefsplash/).

Surcharges from coin sales will help build an endowment fund to protect America's national bird for generations to come, and have already raised $7 million for that cause.
